This beautiful shallow bowl is perfect for storing fruit, popcorn, or any dry goods. The tension from the knots tied on either side of the bowl has stretched the clay, causing some tension fissures in the base of the bowl, so it will not hold water. The high gloss, impeccable glaze is offset by the weathering of the edges and central fissures, to suggest that tension and stress in life shape imperfections but also create uniqueness.
This piece is made with recycled clay, fired at cone10, glazed with Tenmoku, and refired at cone10. The glaze has been rubbed off the surface of areas that would typically be touched or handled, in a way that suggests handling and use over a long period of time, producing a weathered look. This piece is oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe, as well as food safe.
