Diptych – Cut Paper on Birch Panels
Two 6×6″ panels

An original Cut Paper work on cradled birch panels using small pieces of up-cycled magazine paper, adhered to birch panels with archival adhesive and finished with gloss varnish, to prevent fading and ensure conservation museum standards. Sides of birch panels painted and sealed.

This piece juxtaposes parts of the original draft of the Declaration of Independence with a mountain of skulls – while a child (placed in front of the phrase “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”) looks on. Viewers can make connections between the words, the human remains, and education about political history in America.
