Inspiration: Whether the viewer sees this image as just a collection of random shapes, envisions the red central shape as a gas pump handle, or sees this center area as a sewing machine, is largely based on the context of the person’s experiences and topical interests. There are many possible interpretations of the interaction of shapes in this piece, or the option of detaching from the need to find meaning. With the algorithms of social media and internet (mis)information, individuals from the same family or region can come away with very different conclusions about politics, society, religion, or even scientific things like health. Everything has become interpretive and influence-able by algorithms and soundbites, yet we all have a gateway of intuition that we can use as a check-and-balance for what resonates with us and what does not vibe well. Just like the shapes in this piece could be seen in different ways, the world we live in is seen in different ways by people, and these different perspectives are all equally real to those who hold what they see online as truth.

This piece is painted on an 18×24″ canvas and sealed with a glistening gloss varnish. Close-up shows the shine of the varnish on the canvas surface. Canvas edges are painted and sealed, and canvas is signed on the front and back.
